Nic Endrikat is the Proprietor and Executive Pastry Chef of Queen Bee Pastry. She developed a sweet tooth at a young age, standing at her mother’s side in the kitchen as soon as she was old enough to whip a whisk. Her German and Italian heritage bred an appreciation of fine cuisine, but it was her love of all things French when it came to pastry that cultivated a truly sweet passion. It was almost inevitable that for Nic, this delicious art was the perfect marriage of creativity and career.
She followed that passion to L’Academie de Cuisine, where she studied the art of French Pastry at former White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier’s Pastry Arts program. Passion, Creativity and an intense work ethic propelled Nic to seek out and work for notable establishments and chefs. She studied cake design with celebrity cake designer, Colette Peters of Colette's Cakes in New York City and has continued to hone her craft at such notable establishments as Smith and Wollensky, The Hotel duPont, Miel Patisserie and Feastivities Events. Nic spent the three years prior to opening Queen Bee as the Sous Chef at Classic Cake. It was there that she was mentored by world renowned pastry chef Robert Bennett.Very often, when it comes to cake, you have to choose between what tastes good and what looks beautiful. I wanted to create a place where you don’t have to choose between art and palate! Queen Bee is just that - Divine, edible art.
Beautiful, delicious and meticulously designed high-end cakes are her love. “I could sit for 10 hours painting the same cake and be the happiest person on earth," says Endrikat. It is this dedication that makes a Queen Bee cake so elegantly exquisite. Some may find this task daunting, but Nic relishes the challenge of complex flavor profiles and meticulous designs. The payoff is always a sweet reward.
Nic has won multiple awards for her beautiful cakes and has been featured on KYW1060’s “What’s Cooking!” with Hadas Kuznits. Her work has been featured on the Catersource Style Me Reloaded DVD as well as in the Martha Stewart Wedding publication and most recently on 100 Layer Cake’s wedding blog.
